Fund Type: Scholarship Funds
Fund Category: Education, Youth
The Nehemiah Marshall Scholarship Fund was established in the memory of our friend, long-standing Martin Luther King Center Board Treasurer, Mr. Nehemiah Marshall, known by many as Jerry. Jerry joined the Board of the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in the early 2000s and served as Treasurer for well over a decade. He also was President and Co-Founder of the Antigua and Barbuda Students Association USA, providing student scholarships and supplies. Nehemiah was also a Fire Commissioner for the East Spring Valley Fire Department.
A banker and Vice President at Sterling National Bank, Jerry not only served his community professionally, but also volunteered his financial expertise by providing free financial literacy education. Nehemiah also sought to ease the daunting application process for students from Antigua seeking to study in the USA. Jerry’s commitment to the power of education and his demonstration of resilience and community service are embodied in the scholarship fund that bears his name.
“Rest in Power” Nehemiah Marshall. May you inspire many to follow in your path.
