The David Katcher Memorial Scholarship was created to celebrate the memory of David Katcher, a 2001 graduate of Nanuet High School who passed away much too soon in December 2017. David was a loving son, brother, and friend. He excelled in music, playing the violin and–his greatest love–jazz piano. If you went to any high school musicals during his high school years, you saw David in the pit, at the keys. And if you went into the orchestra room or band room between classes or after school, you would find David crafting his own rendition of a jazz standard or improvising over a pop classic. He was also a talented engineer who always found a way to make time for his music and his friends. The David Katcher Memorial Scholarship Fund would like to honor a student whose own passion is for the arts – not necessarily as a college major or career choice, but as an important part of life.
