    This fund supports organizations that concentrate on civil rights, children, education, food insecurity, gun safety, housing, medicine, ministry, Public Television (PBS) and Veterans Affairs. The 1888 Amato Dryer Famellette Fry Walter Memorial Fund looks forward to giving back to the community and country for many, many years to come.

    The Aleyris Martinez Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Aleyris Martinez who, in January 2009, was tragically killed when her snow tube hit a tree at Rotella Golf Course in Haverstraw. Aleyris was just 13 years old. Each year a $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to each of up to two promising female Hispanic high school seniors who are residents of the Village of Haverstraw, to assist with costs in attending the college of their choice. To be considered for the Scholarship applicants may be attending any public, private or parochial school within Rockland County, but must reside in the North Rockland School District.

    The Chazen Spirit of Rockland Scholarship recognizes and supports Rockland County youth dedicated to pursuing higher education studies. The scholarship is awarded to a promising Rockland County high school senior in need of financial aid, to assist with costs in attending a college of his or her choice. This $1,000 scholarship is given out each year of the student's studies (total of $4k) contingent on various factors.

    The David Katcher Memorial Scholarship, established to honor the memory of a friend who passed away too soon, is awarded to a Nanuet High School graduating senior who demonstrates a passion for music and the performing arts.

    The Dennis J. Fleming Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Dennis Fleming, an influential advocate and community activist, the Executive Director of the Rockland County Youth Bureau for 33 years (retiring in 2009) and founding member of the Rockland Community Foundation. A scholarship, honoring his values and contributions, will be awarded to a Nyack High School senior pursuing a degree in a two or four-year college, who has demonstrated a strong interest, level of achievement, and involvement in such areas as history, political science, civics or government.

    The mission of the Fostering Philanthropy Fund is to continue the important work that the Rockland Development Council (RDC) has accomplished in Rockland County since 1999. The fund will perpetuate RDC's signature Philanthropy Day event, typically held each year in early November. It provides an opportunity to honor philanthropic community members and organizations as well as to provide an impactful message on the power of philanthropy. The fund may also be used for other activities which will educate, support and inspire individuals in the field of fundraising, encourage community collaboration, and promote philanthropy.

    River Hook is a serene sanctuary for Village residents, and a place for people to gather to enjoy low-impact recreational activities. Friends of River Hook, Inc. (“FRH”) is a New York not-for-profit corporation, for the charitable purpose of beautifying and enhancing River Hook. FRH’s mission is to help improve and maintain the natural landscape and the public buildings located within the Preserve, and to encourage an appreciation of the ecology, architecture and history of the Preserve.

This scholarship celebrates those students whose passions lie outside the ordinary or expected. Each year a current Tappan Zee High School Senior will be awarded a one time scholarship of $5,000.

She was an inquisitive, creative and generous person and was passionate about her multifaceted artistic expression: In honor of her creative spirit, this Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of Ramapo or Spring Valley High School that has demonstrated a strong interest in some form of creative expression, including music, dance, visual arts, drama, or writing.

    The Innovative Teaching Grant Fund acknowledges that educating our youth is a value we all share. The single most important component to assuring quality in the classroom is the teacher.     The Kevin J. Zugibe P.E. Memorial Scholarship in Engineering encourages North Rockland High School seniors to pursue careers in engineering by recognizing their talents and providing them with financial assistance for their engineering studies. Each year, two students will each be awarded $2,500 under this annual scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded each year to a senior who demonstrates the same values that she did during her time at Suffern High School and is a member in good standing of the English Honor Society.

    Founded in 1978, the Montessori Center of Nyack has been serving our community’s children for almost four decades. The school is centered around creating a natural and joyful experience for each child through Montessori learning. The goal of the Montessori Center Of Nyack Growth Fund is to provide funding for in classroom experiences, updated supplies, and to upgrade the playground. Our larger goal is to raise enough capital to resurface the playground and build shade structures.

    The New City Library strives to connect people, information and ideas. To better accomplish this mission, the building will undergo a renovation to meet the needs of the community. For years, patrons have requested more bookable space for meetings and study, and with the rise of working from home that demand has only increased. The building’s transformation will add multiple rooms to satisfy a variety of needs and create a more welcoming and open space. The revitalized library will bring more people together while still providing the same great service and access to materials. The fund will ensure that the full vision of a modern library can be achieved.

    Judith Johnson was described by Gary Stern of the Journal-News (October 22, 2019) as the “best known educator in the Lower Hudson Valley, who fought for educational equity for decades and represented the region on the state Board of Regents since 2015. One $500 scholarship will be awarded this year. Recipients must be Rockland County or Peekskill residents interested in furthering their education by attending a college/university or a vocational school. This award is open to previously enrolled and current students. The age range to qualify for this award is 17-26 years old.

This includes those intending to major in Performance, Arts Management, Stage Management, or Technical Design.

    The Welles Remy Crowther Red Bandanna Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to the courage and heroism of 24- year-old Welles Remy Crowther (The Man in The Red Bandanna) who rescued many on 9/11 before he ultimately perished. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving high school graduate choosing to pursue a career in fire and emergency services or health related services.

This initiative and fund was created by Anita Kopacz. Zero F’s Given launched as a tee shirt campaign to help The Center for Safety & Change, who serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes in Rockland County, New York.
