The Women Run Rockland Scholarship Fund was created to encourage young women to enter politics and/or public service in order to further gender equity in elected office and a more representative government. A scholarship will be awarded to a Nyack High School senior pursuing a degree in a two- or four-year college who has demonstrated a strong interest, level of achievement, and/or involvement in political science, civics or government.
The Nyack Young Writers Scholarship recognizes two rising Nyack High School seniors, judged to have written and submitted the most outstanding prose or poetry. The scholarship awards $3,500 to the first-place recipient, and $2,000 to the second-place recipient.
The Peggy O’Gorman Leadership Fund offers a scholarship each year, in memorium, to a Nyack High School graduating senior who exemplifies the attributes of leadership, service, scholarship and community.
The ML by Maria Luisa Scholarship annually supports a need-based female graduating HS student in Rockland County, who has demonstrated a desire to learn and foster principals of civic and community involvement, issues around Social Justice, Inequality, and related interests supporting Fair Trade and Eco-friendly principles.
The Dennis J. Fleming Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Dennis Fleming, an influential advocate and community activist, the Executive Director of the Rockland County Youth Bureau for 33 years (retiring in 2009) and founding member of the Rockland Community Foundation. A scholarship, honoring his values and contributions, will be awarded to a Nyack High School senior pursuing a degree in a two or four-year college, who has demonstrated a strong interest, level of achievement, and involvement in such areas as history, political science, civics or government.
