THE ROCKLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: STRENGTHEN THE POWER OF GIVING
Community Foundations are independent philanthropic organizations working in specific geographic areas which, over time, build permanent collections of endowed funds contributed by many donors. With over 700 community foundations nationwide holding roughly $73 billion in assets, they make up one of the fastest growing sectors of philanthropy in the United States today.
The Rockland Community Foundation is a registered, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation governed by a local Board of Directors and an Advisory Board comprised of community leaders. The Foundation is a unifying element in Rockland County. All Community Foundations share the common goal of serving donors, non-profit organizations and the community as a whole by encouraging corporate leaders, educators, youth, parents, non-profits, elected officials and the faith community to work toward the common objective of increasing charitable giving.
The cornerstone of the Rockland Community Foundation is to seek and stimulate permanent endowment building and to help ensure that today’s and tomorrow’s charitable needs in Rockland are met. Our focus is to raise the public consciousness of charitable giving in Rockland to the benefit of all non-profits in Rockland and develop and increase Rockland’s overall capacity to raise private, corporate, public and foundation funds.
The Rockland Community Foundation has many funds designed to address a multitude of critical and ongoing needs in our community. The Foundation staff and Board committee members investigate grant applications, monitor use of funds by recipients and evaluate program results. We can help you direct your giving to areas that are of importance to you. All funds under the Foundation umbrella share one main commonality, Rockland County charitable causes.
